Procrastination is a serious problem. I feel like I’m writing an 80s commercial right now…
Procrastination will keep you from achieving your goals.
Procrastination is so easy to do now. There are so many more distractions than ever before. Before the internet, people had to find other ways to distract themselves.
They read books, or they went out and played sports, etc. We most definitely interacted with each other more than we do now. If you don’t believe me, notice how many people are staring through their phone the next time you are in a crowd.
And I’m willing to bet, it’s not going to get any better.
How do you reverse procrastination? You determine what is important in your life. If you don’t have an idea about what you need to be doing, you will never have any reason to motivate yourself.
You don’t need to give up all your activities that you feel waste your time. We need some breaks as well. It helps us keep some type of balance in our lives. Balance is an important concept in making the right choices for your time. If you are spending excessive amounts of time on the wrong activities, this balance is out of place.
Ask a spouse or a friend for help. You need to find someone you spend a lot of time with. This could even be a co-worker. Ask them to let you know when you are spending too much time on pointless activities. Don’t get upset with them when they do remind you. It’s for your own advantage, and you are the one who asked for their help. They are only doing what you asked of them. This is not always easy to take.
