In today’s podcast, everything is about refusing to quit. All the great people we know reached their status because they persevered and they refused to give up. Venus Warriors provides an avenue for women to remember their forgotten dream and reignite that spark within them once again. It’s finding that buried passion and bringing them back to life. It’s finding purpose and living the best life one can ever have and be proud of.
I created Venus Warriors with a clear vision in mind. I believe all women are strong-willed and independent at some point, if not at most points, in their lives, but somehow along the way, we have forgotten that. It maybe attributed to a lot of factors like taking care of children, being a good wife to our husband, being too engrossed with work, etc. Whatever the reasons are, it is important for us to regain that self-confidence we once had, to speak up and be who we want to be, with or without the permission of others. It is important that we pursue our purpose, whatever it is for each of us, and refuse to quit until the job is done.
How To Find Your Inner Venus Warrior!

We all have struggles; you had them and I had my own fair share, too. But regardless, I am strong in instilling self-recognition and confidence because I believe that no one is responsible for your future but you. You have that choice to steer your life in the direction you want to travel on. And in doing so, it helps to have people to support you in your journey. And if it’s not immediate, then know that you have Venus Warriors on your side. That’s why this movement exists, Venus Warriors is a movement that supports such a cause. So never give up. Refuse to quit. No matter what happens, refuse to quit, push forward and thrive. Soon enough you’ll live the life you want for yourself, you’ll find your purpose and you’ll empower more women in the process.

Thank you for stopping by. Thanks for stopping your scroll and listening to something that I have to say because it will benefit you. And that's the only reason why I come on here. My name's Liz Lima and I am a Venus Warrior, which I will go over really quickly. But today I wanna talk about something that has come up to me because a lot of people don't know my story. And I think it's important to know that there is absolutely not one person in this entire universe who was perfect because every single master was once in a disaster, including you. So today I want to talk about don't quit. And I'm going to show you some pretty powerful pictures about that. But what is a Venus Warrior? We are women that are taking back our lives and finally going over the passions and the purposes that we have shut out from listening to for all these years.
We were independent women. We probably graduate from college or we were went right into the workforce, whatever it was. We were always strong willed. We did everything for everyone and we kind of left ourselves in the dust, but no longer, the entire mission of this, of this movement that I'm creating Venus Warrior is literally to empower every single woman to take back their desires, to take back their purpose and passion and to fulfill them in whichever way that they want it to be done. But this will be a tribe of woman and that is this entire movement. That's what I'm doing. But I know that a lot of people quit. And I love this image because it really shows that truly you could be literally five feet from where you need to be and you quit and you turn around and you walk away. And there was a story of this man who was out in the, it was the gold rush era, right?
So, back then he asked his family for all of this money to in, to invest in him, to give him all the money he needed to buy all the tools and the digging tools, the pickax, whatever I needed any went all the way out to California, out west, right. All these other people were doing the same digging for gold. And so he tried and he tried and he tried and he gave up. You know, he didn't, he didn't look for it in certain ways. He just was digging here and digging. They're digging everywhere with no real strategy. And he said, you know what? I'm just going to give up. And so we did. He all of his tools to some Schmoe, literally that's what he's, that's how the story goes. Just some guy and said, he's like, here, maybe you'll have better luck with us than I did and sold us this man.
And this man actually talked to an engineer and was one of the soil engineers and he said, hey, what do you, where do you think I should, I should dig? And the guy was looking around and he did some tests on the ground right? And he actually said five feet left. And the guy did and he struck gold. So the other man was literally five feet away from the gold five feet. That's all he was away from his dreams. And he walked away out of frustration. And so why am I bringing this up? So I am really passionate about empowering women and some people say it's really easy to talk about being positive and you know, having the right mindset and do this and it's great. But Liz, you're just so perfect. Like everything you have is just amazing because you know, I must have grown up with a, I was about to swear, I just grew up with a, with a silver spoon in my mouth.
Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely not. And this is why I'm going to show you this because I think this is really powerful. This was me. This was me in high school. Clearly I had no really good friends because they did not tell me how big my eyebrows were like, come on. Seriously. That's just outrageous. So that's me. In high school, I was not skinny. I don't think I was ever a quote unquote skinny. This is me. This was me now in my, I believe. Yup. This was now freshman year in college and all through my life it just got worse and worse and worse. My utmost weight was 215 pounds. Now I'm not telling you this because this is going to turn into, you know, this whole huge weight loss story. No, this is not turning into a weight loss story with this is telling you is that I didn't quit.
I know what it's like. I know what it's like when you say I'm sick of it. I've gotten to the end of my rope. I don't even know what to do anymore. I'm going to give up. It's so hard. I've given it all I got. I have no energy left is just so hard. Like, all of those things are just awful. They're like daggers that like stick into you. And I get it. Like you think overnight I was, you know, this adorable, cute little kid and then I just got fat overnight. No, it wasn't overnight. It took a long time and man, I did it right, didn't I? So I tried. I still didn't give up. Um, these are when I started trying to lose weight and even though I'm a scientist and you think I would learn it the right way, I didn't, I tried every fad diet that was out there.
Atkins, south beach, cabbage soup. Cookie Diet. Yes, I did the cookie diet. Do you guys remember the cookie diet? It was ridiculous, but I did it. I tried it, it didn't work. And so, you know, one thing after another, after another. Now mind you, I'm in Grad school. Okay. So I was in Grad school at this time. I'm, I'm now going from a dual masters in molecular biology and microbiology. I'm doing science, I'm doing research. I'm working on Lyme disease. I'm working on the, on the bacteria that causes Lyme disease. I'm flagging for techs in the field. What does this mean to you? I wasn't sitting around eating Bon bons all day like I was, I had a life, I was doing stuff and so it wasn't, you know, it wasn't like I had nothing else to do and I could just focus on this. No, I couldn't just focus on this.
Right. Which was pretty much the entire, all of my mo, like my brain capacity was on how disgusting I felt. Literally that is what my life was focusing on. Even on top of how I was busting my ass and try to get through school with like the best grades because that's what we were told in life. Right? You've got to have the best grades. You got to go to the best school you have to to to be successful in life like that. That was the goal. At least that's what was told to me. Right. And, and I will never fault Matt Harris for that because my parents literally came here with nothing. They came here with nothing. They came with a suitcase and they had a really good life where they came from and they came in with a suitcase and they moved into an apartment with five other couples.
My mom is, uh, one daughter of six and they all moved into this apartment in central falls, Rhode Island. Look it up. It's literally a square mile. And so I didn't have like, I didn't come from this, you know, family of super duper positive people. It didn't happen. They worked and they worked hard, but they never give up. And so maybe that's where my never giving up thing happens. I'm not sure. But what else happened? Well then my five year relationship of the man who I thought I was going to marry and finally have that House with the picket fence and the children and all of that, and he dumped me. He just flat out dunk me. And I think he used as an excuse, um, because I thought out later that he was totally with someone else as he was breaking up with me, um, that, you know, he just couldn't wait for me any longer because I was in school for a really long time.
So I graduated with three bachelors in science and a dual masters in science. And so here's copout excuse reason was that he couldn't wait anymore. So now add that on top of everything else that's going on right now. This just seems like a huge shit storm of crap. Right? But it gets better, I promise you. So I never gave up. Right? And so press on. I'm in college, I finally graduate. I am now working in my career. So now I'm setting up a molecular labs in these bio biotech companies and still determined to not give up. I finally competed in fitness competitions. So coming from 215 pounds, I went down to 140 pounds. And this is why I'm showing you not to show you how fricking awesome I looked. Okay. That was bad. But you have to admit I look pretty good. Right? But it was hard.
It was really, really, really hard. It was really hard and I was miserable and that's just the way that my body reacts to it. I was unhappy. It was hard and it was difficult, but I didn't quit. That's the whole point. The point of this whole thing is that I am not perfect and I know what it's like to struggle with a whole lot of stuff. Right? I was never the smart one. I had to go to some school in senior year because I failed English. Who Fails English? Me, I failed English. Even though Portuguese is my first language. Right. You don't hear an accent. You probably hear the Rhode Island accent, but I didn't have an accent, but I failed English. I was never a studier. I never studied cheerleading was my thing. I was a cheerleader. I was a Chubby, chill at her and I did drama.
I love drama and that was my life. Right? And I dealt with bullying. I was picked on and all of this other stuff. So that whole self conscious thing was full, like full on me. No self confidence, completely self conscious all the time. You know, posture like this, head down, curved over, that was me, right? Head was never up, shoulders would never back. None of it. I get it. I get it. Like struggling with trying to try to graduate, struggling to try and make friends, struggling to try to advance in life. Mike like depression, you name it, I had it right. So I get it and I'm telling you this because I want you to know that I know what it's like. I've been through it. That's why I'm so passionate about instilling this belief in you because you are the only one that can truly put yourself where you need to be.
Right? I can, I can be here and I can push and I can empower and I can, I can talk to you until I'm blue in the face. But you have to make the choice to do it and it is easier to trust. It's easier when you have people supporting you. Why was I able to compete? Why was I actually able to get to that point? Because I had support, I had a community of women, I was a savage girl, I have Cathy savage as my coach. Melanie Lynch was a great friend of mine, Kim Jefferson. I'm like so many of these women that I competed with were by my side and we were together the entire time. When you have a community, when you have support, it gets done. And that's what Venus worries is all about because we as women need to finally pursue our passions and change this world because something needs to change.
And that's why I'm making this movement and that's why this movement is happening right now there. But again, just to show you that it wasn't all rainbows once I got here is that I also had babies. So I had two children and the first one, you know, I, I didn't even do it wrong. Like it's not that I just completely went off the rails and eat everything that was bad for me. No, I still was eating well. I knew how to eat now. Right? I went, I went of course and got a nutrition, um, certificate. Of course I did, right? I got more education and I know how to eat and I was eating well and all of that. My first son, I gained 65 pounds. And that is the first image you see. And then the middle image is when I gained 70 with my daughter.
What? Yes. And the last image was actually only two years ago. Yup. Of how I finally found another source of amazing nutrition that put me in a place where I didn't have to struggle anymore. I finally found a way that I could be happy, live life, changed my lifestyle a little bit, but still be who I am. Massive extrovert, loves to have a great time and still feel amazing and also look pretty good. Right. So I'm, I'm telling you this too, for you to understand that don't ever think that when someone is speaking to you that has gone through x, you know, you may not know their experiences, but they probably went through a lot to be able to have the courage to speak to you in a way to explain and give everything to you about everything that they went through, all of their, their accomplishments, but not to brag.
It's more of a, hey, I get it. I was there and the only reason why I want to share this with you is because I wish I had someone, I still wish I had. Someone helped me through all of that nonsense the entire time that that negative voice, which is really noise inside of your head, just go and at you over and over and over again all day long. Just saying negative things over and over again. I wish I had someone to help me when I was going through that and that's why I'm doing this and that's why this movement has come about. And so with that, I don't want to keep you guys too long. This is one of, one of my quotes that I love to say to women is that seriously get out of your own way. You are holding yourself back. You know that you are worthy of doing whatever it is that you want to do.
That's why you're even here. That's why you're even listening to this live right now is because you striving for something and yet one day you are super hot, you on fire, you are getting ish done. And then just like that there's that voice and it's probably saying, wait, who do you think you are? Like, wait, I know you can't do that. Why do you think you can go out there and do that? Right? Whatever it is that's telling you that you need to block it out and it takes time, right? And there's ways to do that and then strategies to do that. But this, this is what I'm trying to say to you is that you are in your own way. I was in my own way. Everything that I just showed you, I kept pushing forward and that's why I'm so passionate about this movement, and that's why I have the venous warrior movement.
So that's what I have to say. Thank you so much for giving me your time, because that literally is the most precious gift that we all have. So with that, have an amazing night. If you feel that this helped you in any way, please share it. Share this with the women that are in your lives because they need to hear as well. So we need to spread this. We need to spread this because we need to make a massive change. Thank you so much. Have an amazing night. Bye.
